Old Church Street

Façade retention and double basement extension

d u s t secured planning permission from the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea for a sizable double basement extension to a terraced house on Old Church Street - one of the last of its kind to be approved in the area. In successfully navigating the complex planning system within a conservation area the planning consent was a triumph for the team. The large basement, which complies with strict subterranean development policies, adds 465sqm of liveable space including a pool, gym, sauna, wine room and a spacious library – all partially concealed beneath a glass roof doubling up as a garden pond. The design included a minimalist rear extension clad in anodized aluminium, its simple form subtly echoing the historic setting of the project.
