d u s t had the opportunity to refurbish a large, detached Victorian house in Ealing – a project that fuses historic detail and contemporary architecture for a distinctive family home. At the front, the entrance hall and ground floor rooms have been restored with traditional features like vaulted ceilings, wall panelling and a fireplace with original William Morris tiles. The ornate cornices have been carefully reinstated and rare, original details like staff bells and umbrella stands are still intact. All of these historic elements at the front of the house are a striking juxtaposition with the modern, glass extension at the rear, which is visible from the front door. It was the client’s wish that we celebrate the history of the house while creating a practical base for their busy, young family.
